Get to Know Travaris
State Representative Travaris McCurdy is a native son of Orlando, born in Orange Center and raised in Carver Shores, Mr. McCurdy was educated in the Orange County Public School System. Travaris attended Florida A & M University and holds a B.A. degree in Political Science.
Representative McCurdy is the former chief legislative aide to State Senators Geraldine Thompson and Randolph Bracy, and formerly served as the Deputy Political Director for the National Super PAC, For Our Future. Travaris has worked on several successful political campaigns including that of Orlando City Commissioner, Regina Hill.
His community involvement includes serving as OCPS-ACE school board member, West Lakes Partnership board member, NAACP member, and member of the Orange County Democratic Black Caucus. Mr. McCurdy is also the founder of the Mobile Library service which provides free books to children throughout Orange County. Travaris is a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and the Orlando Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
McCurdy was officially elected to office on November 3, 2020 and sworn into office on November 17, 2020.
McCurdy is running for re-election to the Florida House of Representatives to represent District 41. Upon being re-elected to the Florida House of Representatives Travaris plans to continue his focus on the needs of the community in the areas of Housing, Criminal Justice Reform, Education, Seniors, Veterans Voting Rights and Healthcare.
